We Need Nature YTC

Uploaded by St Alban's C of E Primary School on 2023-07-07.

At Saint Alban's, we are a ‘Beacon’ school for Young Tree Champions (YTC). Run by The Tree Council, the project encourages us all to be a #ForceForNature.

Biodiversity and the state of nature are hugely important to us, together with the health and wellbeing of people. Last year, our Nature Needs Us Now project led to us creating a biodiversity trail in the grounds. We have lots of things planned for this year and have just begun the creation of a dead hedge, to provide new habitat.

Thank you to ‘Hampshire Chestnut’ for generously donating the stakes and to Martin Hampton for kindly donating his time and expertise.

As part of their computing curriculum, Year 5 made videos to try to get more people on Nature's side. Year 5 are a #ForceForNature!

Duckweed and Deadhedges

The duckweed in the pond does not harm the wildlife but it does make pond dipping more challenging. It grows back amazingly quickly!
