Home School Association

The Home School Association (HSA) would like to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves and what we do and hopefully encourage you to get involved.

What is our goal?

Like PTAs in other schools the goal of the HSA is, in summary, to raise funds through having fun. The funds we raise then go towards purchasing goods to help enhance the learning experiences of the children at St Alban’s. Over the years the HSA has bought everything from iPads to fences!  As well as raising funds our aim is for HSA events and activities to provide opportunities for parents to get involved and socialise with other parents and for our children to build some treasured memories.

How can you get involved?

Obviously these objectives cannot be achieved without Parents, Grandparents and carers helping to arrange the activities of the HSA and providing their support for the activities that have been arranged. The more support we have the more we can do.

There are many ways you can get involved in the HSA

We have regular meetings during the school day to which all are invited where HSA events and activities are discussed and organised.  All are welcome, whether you can make every meeting or just attend occasionally.  If you can’t attend meetings during the day at all that doesn’t matter either. Just let us know you’d like to get involved and we will ensure you are!  Many helpers have limited time but there are lots tasks that can be done at home or in your own time so please let us know if you can provide help of any kind.

We also rely on parents donations for many of our events. Donations of toys, books, bottles, plants, unwanted gifts and clothes have all been requested at some point during the year so please start keeping hold of potential donations now.

What activities do we run?

There are lots of events run by the HSA that have become regulars on the St Alban's calendar: Film nights, Cake sales, the Christmas Fair (where parents donate items the children can buy as presents), the Summer Fair and the Easter Hunt to name a few.  We also arrange some fundraisers that can be purchased like personalised Christmas Cards, Calendars and tea towels with self-portraits of all the children in the school. We are always looking out for new ideas and to try new things.

HSA letters about what is happening next and what is needed to make it a success will go home in your children's book bags; please keep an eye out for those when your child starts school.
