Welcome
Welcome from Mrs Goldsworthy, Headteacher
Welcome to St Alban's Church of England Aided Primary School. We look forward to getting to know your child, and your family, well over the coming months and years. We are a popular, thriving church school, founded on Christian values which are embedded in all that we do.
Having joined as Headteacher in April 2024, this is an exciting time for you to be joining our school as we look to make some changes to ensure that we continue to offer the best curriculum experience for each and every child in an inclusive and fun environment. It is important to us that we prepare our children for the world in which they are living. So, as well as ensuring that they strive for academic high standards, we also focus on preparing our children for the future by equipping them with resilience, curiosity, patience and many other skills for effective learning in everything they do. We want them to feel equipped to deal with challenges confidently, whilst still being mindful of others as well as teaching them how to be guardians of God’s world.
We have high expectations of behaviour from all children, and we support our children to make the right choices by teaching them to recognise their feelings, and by giving them the tools and strategies to regulate their feelings when they need to. A restorative approach to behaviour is used when things go wrong, and this helps children to see that it’s okay to get things wrong. It is learning from our mistakes, validating others’ feelings and recognising how we should do things differently next time that’s important.
Working in a partnership with you - the parents/carers - to support your child is of utmost importance to us as a school. We value your support, ideas and help throughout your time with us. It is so important that your child sees this relationship as a positive and supporting one also and that they know we are working together to achieve the very best for them. We are developing a nurture team to support your child, and your family when you need it, and as Headteacher, I will always make sure I am available to listen to you and to support you in the best way I can.
I look forward to getting to know your child, and your family, soon.
With best wishes,
Mrs Sarah Goldsworthy, BA (Hons) QTS, NPQH
