Supporting Our Families

Hello to all our families,

What difficult and unprecedented times we find ourselves in. I hope that you and your families are keeping well.

It is helpful to hold in mind that during uncertain times, it is expected and therefore normal for children and adults to feel worried and sad, as well as a range of other emotions. Some of the ways we can support our families and each other are:

  • connecting with others (e.g. virtually or through phone calls)
  • acknowledging and managing emotions (e.g. recognising the feelings and using techniques such as breathing or exercise, as well as spending time doing things you enjoy)
  • having a purpose (e.g. spending time doing things that interest you/are passionate about or doing good deeds)
  • having goals and feeling a sense of control on some level (e.g. daily personal goals can be very little steps and establishing some type of routine in these uncertain times can feel helpful)

I would also like to signpost you to a number of sources of support.

There are lots of links to activities and useful resources for managing anxiety and how to talk to children and young people about coronavirus.

Stay well and safe.
