GovernorsWelcome from Chairman of Governors, Mr Derick Wiesner Since my election as Chairman of Governors in September 2010, it has been a real pleasure to work with a dedicated and supportive Board of Governors and a superb teaching faculty. There has been a small turnover as some faces have moved on and new volunteers have stepped in but we have seen St Alban's grow from strength to strength. We are committed to excellence at St Alban's and the Board of Governors are dedicated and proactive to ensure that St Alban's provides a great learning and enjoyable environment for our children and that we remain at the forefront of primary education for the community we serve. Over recent years we have achieved: a continued Outstanding Judgement from OFSTED (September 2010), complete refurbishment of our KS1 classrooms and our Year 3 and 4 classrooms, renewed Investors for People Status, Trail Blazer Status, finalist placing in The Church School Awards 2010.
Thus providing ample evidence that the school remains on the right track in providing a first class education for our children and preparing them for their future education at secondary level. We have been fortunate to add to our excellent IT provision with the introduction of some additional interactive whiteboards. (There is now one in each classroom) We are committed to building on this resource and ensuring that the use of IT within the school becomes embedded within all subjects. Areas for development currently include the introduction of Philosophical Enquiry into the curriculum and the expansion of learning in the outside environment. In the Spring 2011 an outdoor classroom and prayer garden are due to be built on the large school field. This outdoor classroom has been purchased by funds raised by the enthusiastic Home School association.
We strive to motivate and develop students that are mature, highly educated, life-long learners who will lead and impact their world. Our academic, arts, music, athletic and social programs are designed to challenge and inspire our students to develop their God-given gifts and talents as they develop into the young men and women God has designed them to be.
If there is any information that you require please do not hesitate to contact the Head Teacher or myself via the School Office. Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Head Teacher, Alice Wood, all the Staff and Governors for their hard work and enthusiasm which benefits the children we are privileged to work with and which makes St Alban's so special.
