GovenorsChairman of Governors Mr Alan Welton Since my election as Chairman of Governors in November 2005, I have enjoyed the dedication and support of a hardworking and cohesive Board of Governors. There has been a small turnover as some faces have moved on and new volunteers have stepped in to guide the school through the next stage in its development. This will draw on the recent Self Evaluation of the schools work carried out by the staff and governors to prepare and publish the next School Development Plan (SDP). We also expect and look forward to a short notice OFSTED inspection in the very near future. Over recent years we have achieved the Investors In People award that recognizes the Leadership and Management of the school and its effectiveness in developing all those who are involved in school life including the Teaching Staff, Support Staff and the Governors. The last KS2 SATS were outstanding and provide ample evidenced that the school remains on the right track in providing a first class education for our children and preparing them for their future education at secondary level. We have launched an After School Club and Breakfast Club which is an important add on to our School and it allows us to provide a caring and stimulating environment for those families where the childcare and work balance is difficult. We have been fortunate to add to our excellent IT provision with the introduction of some additional interactive whiteboards. We are committed to building on this resource and ensuring that the use of IT within the school becomes embedded within all subjects. Following those successes, the next SDP will take us onwards and upwards. The school will be proactive and seek to remain at the forefront of primary education for the community it serves. If there is any information that you require please do not hesitate to contact the Head Teacher or me via the School Office. Finally, I must take this opportunity to thank the Head Teacher, Alice Wood, all the Staff and Governors for their hard work and enthusiasm which benefits the children we are privileged to educate and makes St Albans just that bit special.
